Category Manager Indirect Material

Responsibility for cost-efficient strategic sourcing of indirect goods and services, procure to pay, supplier relationship management and demand management in relation to an assigned portfolio of categories, ensuring the on-time and economical supply of all required indirect goods and services.
Leading cross-country/-functional and -entity teams

Actively managing and implementing pipeline of savings projects.
Work closely with all internal areas to determine current and future sourcing needs, gain cross-functional alignment on the best method for fulfilling those needs and monitor ongoing effectiveness of the process.

Develop and leverage strategic suppliers to ensure innovation, availability and total-cost for indirect materials

Your main targets will be to develop a comprehensive sourcing strategy short- and long-term for your category, subsequently implement it, and to achieve 10% cost reduction in your category by 2013.

Your profile:

  • Secondary education in business, IT, or engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years profound experience in strategic sourcing, especially indirect goods and services within the production environment and C-material management concepts
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Hands-on attitude
  • Must be able to work independently and take over responsibility for one category
  • Highly experienced negotiator with track record of large volume, complex negotiations
  • Very good understanding of product and supply markets and major market levers
  • Ability to analyze the market and demand situation and commodity influences to develop advanced strategies
  • Understanding of relevant strategic sourcing and demand levers, commercial and contractual levers and risks, and cross-functional approaches and ability to adapt levers to cope with specific challenges
  • Experienced in communication with national and international suppliers and internal customers
  • Ability to motivate and manage cross-functional and cross-entity teams, securing resources, redirecting team efforts as focus shifts
  • Strong team player with experience with middle management, handling all stakeholder groups and creating networks even in difficult environments
  • Very good experience in managing and delivering projects on time in international and cross-entity settings
  • Ideally experience in Catering surroundings, but not a must
  • Affinity with the aerospace industry and a certain interest in food and nutrition in general
  • Very good presentation, listening and communication skills
  • Full working knowledge of spread sheets functions and customized reporting
  • Mobility - open to travel 1 or more days per week
  • Good knowledge of presentation software
  • Fluent in English and German (oral and written)
